THIS WEEK’S FEATURED TRAVEL EXPERIENCE REVIEW
I visited this Southern African beautiful vacation spot at a tender age, yet the charm of Chobe Lodge and resplendence of the nature had an unforgettable impact on me. I spent one evening and a day there as my family and I were in transit to Zimbabwe so I could not fully experience all that Chobe Lodge had to offer.
My sister and I shared a spacious and lavishly African style furnished chalet. Upon our arrival early on in the day I noticed little picket signs along the pathways, which read: “Beware of resident hippos!” Though it was alarming, the area was very safe and because the river was so close to the chalets we had a front row view of the plethora of birds and river wildlife.
When darkness fell my sister and I retired to our chalet and as I lay in bed awaiting my entrance to blissful slumber, I found myself concentrating on the very audible and inexplicable hippo sounds outside amid the gentle flowing of the river. That evening I was robbed of my sleep as I was seized by thoughts of a mammoth sized hippo bull dozing our door, entering our chalet and then finding a resting place on my bed effectively liquefying my insides. As the night crawled on, I lay mannequin stiff waiting with my teeth chattering all through the night.
However, with the morning sun came deep relief at not having fallen victim to ravenous hippos. As my family and I drove away I thought back on my enjoyable breakfast that was devoured at the dining area situated directly in front of the lake, the very comfortable stay at Chobe Lodge as well as my exciting nature experience and acknowledged my vivid imagination.
An amazing place and I would recommend it to anyone. It is in Botswana, in Southern Africa on the banks of the Chobe River.
